UAtech Community: Highlights from 2024

It's hard to believe it's only been a year since the UAtech community first started bringing together Ukrainian tech professionals in Toronto. In 2024, we saw incredible growth, experimented with new event formats, and strengthened our connections in ways we couldn't have imagined.

Building a Home Base

Thanks to our amazing partnership with DMZ and Toronto Metropolitan University, we had a dedicated space to call home for a series of events. This gave us a consistent meeting point and fostered a real sense of belonging for our members.

Knowledge is Power

We hosted events covering a wide range of essential topics, from navigating immigration and PR to understanding the ins and outs of Canadian business law and accounting. A standout moment was our financial literacy masterclass led by Anna Nikitenko, which demystified the complexities of starting and running a business in Canada.

In March, we held a dynamic Q&A session with successful startup founders. With nearly 80 attendees, the energy was electric! The founders shared their experiences, challenges, and triumphs, providing invaluable insights for aspiring entrepreneurs.

Fundraising Roundatable

Exclusive Access

One of the highlights of the year was an exclusive closed-door meeting with Nick Belokursky, a prominent Ukrainian-Canadian investor. He generously shared his expertise on fundraising, investor expectations, and best practices, offering a rare glimpse into the world of venture capital. We also successfully completed our annual Founders Dinner, bringing together key players in the Ukrainian tech community for an evening of networking and connection.

Marketing Masterclass

Our comprehensive marketing workshop brought together industry experts to cover all aspects of marketing, from branding and performance marketing to analytics. Attendees walked away with practical strategies and a deeper understanding of current marketing trends.

Looking Ahead

2024 was a year of incredible growth and connection for the UAtech community. We saw increased engagement, support, and collaboration among our members, creating a strong foundation for the future. We're excited to build on this momentum in 2025, expand our reach, and continue to make a positive impact on the Toronto tech scene.

Money20/20 Asia: Where Fintech Stops Talking and Starts Building

Before going to Money20/20 Asia, I expected a strong regional fintech event. What I did not expect was the scale and the energy I witnessed. Asia has a very special fintech energy to it. Things feel less theoretical there, les
